Other than live octopuses, penis fish, fried roaches, refried worms and stinky rotten tofu, one of the bizarre foods that Asian culture offers is Natto. This stinky, sticky combo of raw grated ‘yamaimo‘ or ‘Japanese mountain yam’ or ‘Chinese yam’ is da bomb! I totally had a period of Natto Craze, downing two Styrofoam packs of this yummy fermented textured goo without the yam- with mustard, cayenne pepper black pepper and coriander- all in a go.

Here are some reasons I can think of why that Meat eaters find Vegans baffling. Firstly, the idea of suffering of another person or living thing is a very abstract notion. We can only believe that the animals are suffering because they only seem to be suffering. Suffering is only real to us when we actually had a first-hand experience. This is similar to watching wrestling matches. Two giant hulks spitting insults at one another and performing Indian Deadlocks and Double Underhook back breakers.

Naked Salads are da bomb!!! They are nude but they taste so succulent and juicy and almost never go wrong with any fruit combination.
Mono-eating is pleasant. Leaves me feeling tranquil and mentally clear. I usually snarf food down without much thought but eating it naked allows me to savour every bite. I seldom do juicing, unless I am feeling tired and down, because I lurrrve the sensation of biting into juicy fruit. This is breakfast for Tuesday morning last week.
This platter is a 4 set combo: 2 small red delicious apples, 1/4 pineapple, 1 orange and 2 strawberries. Parsley for additional vitamin c.

with the zits on my face. Yep, I said it, zits. Disgusting, horrible, detestable zits. As a young adult, I had acne and was on and off antibiotics for 2-3 years and in the third year I even took Accutane. It worked and I was clear for a year or so and then the zits returned with vengeance. I was frustrated and depressed. I didn’t want to ruin my liver by overdosing it with truckloads of Vitamin A found in Accutane, so I sought natural alternatives instead.

I’ve got Korean yellow- fleshed sweet potatoes (sweet potatoes, yam, whatever you call it) lying in the pantry threatening to grow mold. I was craving carbs but I think I kind of went a little overboard. Let’s do some math:
[Purple rice = (millet+ sorgum millet+ buckwheat+ brown and black rice)], x sweet potato x avocado= one full carb filled happy vegan.
So in the steamer the s.p or yammie goes. I steamed it on the top tray above some purple rice, intending to make a nice sushi roll. However, in the attempt of using up all the rice in the pot, my sushi transformed into a burrito. Err…

You know those days when you have a song playing in your head consecutively for days in a row? I having those days. The strangest thing is the choice of song my head chooses to loop: Take That’s Back for Good. I figured it’s because it’s one of those songs that they put on rotation at departmental stores and shopping centres when I was a kid. But enough is enough. Is there a way to stop it ? If this continues, I reckon that it will cause me some serious long-term neuro damage. I’m going insane. Arrggggggggggggggh

Last week was revision week. Team Vegan Food blogs and Team Tatlin-Duchamp- Oppenheim were all battling for my attention. Sadly, Team Vegan Food Blogs won and now I am now just not keen at all to know how I did for the finals. I know therefore I don’t wanna know. Was my time squandered? Did all that hours looking at those gorgeous mouth-watering creations go to waste? Reading those food blogs sure inspired me to whip something up and catalogue them so now I have a camera full of foodie pictures to share. I guess you have to be the judge of it.

It’s an irony that my first post would be on strawberries and not cherries. I really wanted to commemorate the start of this blog with a nice big cherry pie but No Frills did not carry cherries. It is a pity. But hey, look how fresh these strawberries are! They seem to glister like ruby-diamonds of sorts. I bought two little crates of them last week as fuel for exams. You know like just grab and munch on one and spit their little green tops at a corner, creating a nice grassy heap in the end, then you imagine little happy marbled cows grazing on them, that’s besides the point but…
