What Coloured Guacamole Dip Best Complements Blue Corn Chips? Why, Mustard Yellow Of Course!
Have you eve noticed why Ikea’s logo is such a big hit? It’s probably because they used complementary colours for their logo. In art school, we learn about colour theory- how opposing colours off set and complement each other. Some great colour combos:
forest green & deep red
navy blue & bright yellow
purple & mustard yellow
Indigo & orange
Greens & Yellows
Putting guacamole into colour theory- creamy yellow corn chips do complement red salsa sauces, but how about blue corn chips? Blue corn chips are actually not blue- they fall between purple and indigo.
So would purple chips go with red salsa? I think they do not bring each other’s colours out. How about coupling them with green guacamole? It could work, but it is not a very strong combination either. How about mustard yellow? Now we’re talking…

Mustard Yellow Guacamole
2 Avocadoes
1 Tomato
1 Orange Bell Pepper (not optional)
1/2 Zucchini
1 Onion
1/5 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
1/5 Teaspoon Turmeric
1/5 Teaspoon Cracked Black Pepper
Serves 1 Hungry Person
Note: I think Tostitos’s Blue Corn Chips are really salty by itself, so I omitted salt.
I just finished a painting this week and I have three other projects to churn out before the end of this month. Summer art school is killing me.

I love this! My undergrad was in Fashion and we studied colour theory as well. I often think about this when I plan my menus for my cooking classes- what the foods will look like together on the plate. And your recipe looks and sounds delicious.
One of the biggest challenges I have with my healthy baking/cooking is that so often it is the earth tones that win out.
Yummy. Very Easy to do Gerry! This is something I would make and finish all by myself, happily!

I agree! Earth tones are pretty much common place in the kitchen. But they sure beat artificial colouring any time.
@blovetbeauty
Great! You can also make a bigger batch to share with your family too
Sure your daddy will love it.
